Jennifer from the Amherstview Branch recently enjoyed reading The Zookeeper’s Wife by Diane Ackerman, a 2007 novel that was released as a movie earlier this year.

The Zookeeper’s Wife tells the true story of a couple who ran a zoo and when it became a farm during Nazi rule,” explains Jennifer. “Antonina, a housewife, and her husband, Jan, a zoo director, secretly sheltered Jews in their home and on the grounds.”

Lennox & Addington to celebrate Canada's 150th anniversary

The County of Lennox and Addington will be celebrating Canada 150th anniversary on August 19th at 7pm.  Join us for an unforgettable free evening of entertainment outside on the grounds of the Lennox & Addington County Court House.  Lennox and Addington County Court House is an important building within the County and Canada.  Given its association with some of the first families of Upper Canada it is a very fitting venue to celebrate the 150th anniversary of confederation. 

Waterside Summer Series returns to Amherst Island

The Waterside Summer Series returns to Amherst Island for another exciting concert season. Six concerts are scheduled to take place at St. Paul's Presbyterian Church, located at 1955 Stella 40 Foot Road, just south of the ferry terminal.

Kids, do you collect something you just have to share? Become a curator for a day on June 3rd at 10am and showcase your collection at Museum Kids!

Bring in your collection the Lennox and Addington County Museum and Archives in Napanee and create an “exhibit” to share with the public. Table space will be provided to each child, along with some art supplies to assist with the “exhibit design” for their special collections.

Hell Holes Nature Trails & Caves has made the top 10 list of "Ways to Get Your Adrenaline Pumping This Summer in Southeastern Ontario".

Coming in at #4, Hell Holes is the "spot if your idea of adventure is climbing down through a hole in the earth and investigating an underground cave," according the The Great Waterway, creators of the list.

Rendez-vous 2017 dropping anchor in L&A County

In honour of our nation's 150th anniversary, eleven tall ships from around the world will be sailing Canadian waters this summer. They're scheduled to drop anchor at the port of Bath in front of the picturesque grounds of the Fairfield Gutzeit House from July 7th - 9th.

The spring stargazing season has arrived and the public is invited to the Lennox & Addington County Dark Sky Viewing Area for the first event of 2017.

The 'Spring Sky' Stargazing Evenings are on May 26th & 27th at dusk (weather permitting). On hand at the Dark Sky Viewing Area to lead the sessions will be dark sky enthusiast, Joe Gilker. Joe has become well-known in astrophotography circles in recent years and writes the popular "Dark Arts Astrophotography" blog.

Businesses getting ready for 2017 tourism season

With summer fast-approaching, a number of Lennox & Addington County's signature tourism operators will soon be opening their doors for another busy season.

Bon Echo Provincial Park in Cloyne opens for day use and overnight camping beginning on May 12th. Bon Echo is the county's largest tourist attraction, with more than 200,000 people through the gates annually.
